A Video Game is More Than Just a Game in Aaron Stone
The newest Disney original series, Aaron Stone, premiered on the newly renamed Disney XD channel on Friday. I finally got around to finishing the second part of the premiere (I watched the first part on iTunes before it premiered on Disney XD). I really am impressed with this show. Sure it is not entirely amazing, as there has not really been much action, yet, but the two part premiere certainly has done a great job of introducing the series and does not set it up with too much action, as then viewers might expect a lot of action all the time. Honestly, I am not into shows that have too much action, as then they sometimes neglect the character development and the having of a real plot, which is something I think has happened to the Power Rangers series over the years.
The main character of Aaron Stone is Charlie Landers, whose online avatar name in the Hero Rising game is Aaron Stone. He starts out as a normal kid thinking Hero Rising is just a game despite the ads that say it is more than a game. By the end of the series premiere he has become the real Aaron Stone, as his secret hero identity and has the mission of saving the world from the Omega Defiance just like in the game, but it is a real world threat, too. The show also includes him beginning to befriend the new girl next door that is excited to learn he is the famous Aaron Stone in the game. He is also kind of the new man of the house with his father dying recently (before the time line of the show, though) and protecting his mom and little brother is part of what finally convinces him to be the real Aaron Stone and to keep a low profile about him being a real hero.
Overall this is a great show in my opinion and one of the few kids shows (only other ones are Wizards of Waverly Place and Suite Life on Deck) I actually have on season pass to record the new episodes as they show. I am interested to see how these show continues and the crime fighting part along with him keeping his normal life.
