TV on DVD Review: The Jetsons Season 1
Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
The Jetsons Season 1 is a 4 disc set with the 24 episodes from the first season of The Jetsons. It might be an old show, but it is still an enjoyable one to watch and I think even kids today will enjoy it, although some people think this series is bad because it shows the stereotypes and such that were commonly held when this show was made. However, I do not think that should be a reason to not let kids watch the show. I am sure years from now times will change and people will be saying the same thing about some of the shows today if they are not already.
I really enjoyed watching this DVD set and it is certainly worth getting because it also has some good special features. This includes audio commentary versions by the voice of Judy for the first two episodes on the first disc. The fourth disc also has several special features. This includes short featurettes about the making of the show (”The Jetsons: The Family of the Future”), about “Rosey the Robotic Maid,” and “Space Age Gadgets.” There is also a “Nuclear Family Album” that tells a little about each of the Jetson family characters. The show’s episodes do all stand on their own quite well and thus work good as watching them as reruns on Boomerang, but I still think this is a good DVD release, as it is rare these days for a kids show to have a full season release.
