VeggieTales Abe and the Amazing Promise on Gospel Music Channel Review
Saturday, February 7th, 2009
I watched the premier of the latest VeggieTales movie called Abe and the Amazing Promise on the Gospel Music Channel this morning. To be honest I was kind of disappointed in this VeggieTales that the commercials throughout kept saying was the best ever or something like that. It is not that it is horrible, but I think the whole viewing experience with a bazillion commercials to drag it out to be an hour thing really messed it up. The DVD info says this episode is 55 minutes long, so they must of cut a lot. One thing missing (or at least I did not notice it) was a Silly Song. I am glad they showed this on television, but I think it will turn most off of it if they are not avid fans of the show. I am not totally rating this installment down yet, as I am going to rent the DVD and still give it a fair chance.
This episode does adequately teach about patience in both of the mini stories. The first one about Abraham is the part that disappointed me, although, it did have funny scenes with the nurse on set thinking that every time they said patience they were saying they had patients for her to care for. The second story is actually a really good one, though, about Larry the Cucumber playing an inpatient inventor that gives up on inventions when they give him trouble. He finally learns about the importance of patience and the great results that can happen with patience relating to bringing the Boo Boo Birds back to their town and saving the festival by plating sunflowers.

“The Ladybug Festival” episode of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan begins with Kai-Lan saying inviting the viewers to go with her and her friends to the Ladybug Festival, which has ladybug games, ladybug rides, and a ladybug sky dance performance. Before she leaves to hike through the woods to the festival, Ye Ye helps tie her shoe. Soon after she begins her hike she meets up with Rintoo and Hoho. Tolee is not there yet, so they ask the viewers help them call for Tolee. Tolee comes prepared with a bunch of stuff in a big panda backpack.
The “Fairy Tale” episode of Wizards of Waverly Place starts with the Principal giving Justin the job of directing the school play, Peter Pan. He does it in order to get the Principal to write him a letter of recommendation to his alma mater, Clementine College. It then has a funny scene with Zeke singing a Mexico song. While announcing the auditions Justin mentions that he figured out that Eric put Justin’s gym clothes on the roof. The opening scene ends with the principal telling Alex that she has to be part of the locker room refurbishment club as her extra curricular. She gets out of it by saying she is going to be in the play.
