Handy Manny Mini Marathon Tomorrow on Playhouse Disney

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Handy Manny Manny's Pet RoundupTomorrow, February 16, 2009, on Playhouse Disney there is a mini marathon of Handy Manny episodes. For once it is not just me calling it a mini marathon because it is so short. The Playhouse Disney website actually calls it that on the what is coming up this month and next month parent’s page. The actual page with the line up information only calls it a marathon, but I am glad to see that they are not entirely trying to make it seem like it is a marathon of episodes when there are only 4 episodes in a row. Not that there really is a true guideline for calling it a marathon, but I feel cheated when I think a marathon of shows are showing and they only last a few hours rather than at least 4 to 6 hours. Anyways below is the line up of episodes. Nothing new, but some good episodes.

8am Eastern/7am Central - “Movie Night/Cactus Manny”
8:30am Eastern/7:30am Central - “Bloomin’ Tools/Ups and Downs”
9am Eastern/8am Central - “Skateboard Park/Cowboy Manny”
9:30am Eastern/8:30am Central - “Manny to the Rescue/Handy Hut”

Where is Warehouse Mouse? Week on Playhouse Disney

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Disney's Imagination MoversTomorrow, January 26, 2009, begins Where is Warehouse Mouse? Week on Playhouse Disney. This is a special Imagination Movers themed week that leads up to a new episode on Saturday. At the end of each episode during this special week there will be a picture shown and if you click on it online it is supposed to unlock some sort of special episode. Below is the line up for the week.

Monday, January 26, 2009 - “The Tooth Hurts” episode about Warehouse Mouse hiding to avoid going to the vet

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - “Wayne Dance” episode about the Imagination Movers helping Nina’s friend learn to dance by using remote controlled dancing shoes

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - “Big Pumpkin Problem” episode about them growing a giant pumpkin and then have trouble getting the pumpkin through the door because it got so big

Thursday, January 29, 2009 - “Finder Key-pers” episode about Knit Knot misplacing his key and the Imagination Movers helping him find his keys

Friday, January 30, 2009 - “Have a Ball” episode about a football player having trouble catching a ball and the Imagination Movers helping him regain his ability to catch

Saturday, January 31, 2009 - “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Mouse?” new episode about a television repair man being afraid of mice and the Imagination Movers helping him overcome his fears through making him friends with Warehouse Mouse

This themed week does seem to have a few episodes that appear to have Warehouse Mouse as a central part of the episode, such as Monday’s and Saturday’s episodes. The others do not seem to be as well in theme with the week, but I do assume Warehouse Mouse at least appears in all the episodes.

Handy Manny Marathon Tomorrow on Disney Channel

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Tomorrow morning, January 19, 2009, Playhouse Disney is having a special Handy Manny Morning with a marathon of Handy Manny episodes. Actually, it is more of a mini marathon if you ask me and not really long enough to even call that. Basically it is only 4 episodes in a row, which makes for a pretty pathetic marathon in my mind, but I guess maybe preschoolers have a different sense of time and that seems like a lot for them. Also, I guess it is better not to have regular marathons for the young kids because there is plenty of time later for them to end up sucked into television. They do not need to learn the habit ever, especially not now. Below is the line up for the Handy Manny Morning Marathon tomorrow.

8am Eastern Time/7am Central Time - “Bake Sale/Camping Tools” episode about Manny and the tool making pastries for the school’s bake sale and helping a boy enjoy camping without leaving home

8:30am Eastern Time/7:30am Central Time - “Talent Show/Abuelito’s Yard Sale” episode about Manny repairing a piano in time for the talent show and the tools accidentally selling a rocking chair they were not supposed to sell at a yard sale

9am Eastern Time/8am Central Time - “Tools for Toys/Manny’s Mouse Traps” episode about the tools entertaining a customer’s daughter and Manny trying to catch a mouse at the bakery

9:30am Eastern Time/8:30am Central Time - “Flicker/Time Capsule” episode about Manny’s motorcycle breaking down and the new friend Flicker the flashlight helping out and a hidden time capsule being discovered at Town Hall

Playhouse Disney’s Handy Manny Meets Flicker Week

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

I know Playhouse Disney’s Handy Manny Meets Flicker Week began yesterday, but I did not find out until yesterday morning because the Disney website calendar does not update until the first of the month for the current month and I did not been watching much television last week to have known about it via commercial. This special Handy Mannny week still has plenty left to it, though, as it goes all the way through Sunday, which is slightly unusual as the Playhouse Disney special weeks tend to be Monday through Friday. The special week is about new episodes of the show that introduce the new character, Flicker the flashlight. Flicker speaks only Spanish when they find them and it seems at least from the first episode that with Flicker there may be a lot more Spanish in the episodes. Below are the line ups for the rest of the week including this morning, since for some this morning has not aired yet.

Tasty Time with ZeFronk Review

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

This morning I recorded the premiere episodes of the new Playhouse Disney short/interstitial called “Tasty Time with ZeFronk.” The show is a basically about ZeFronk, an dog, teaching kid viewers how to make simple snack recipes with a little help from adults. Then it goes to a part with a real adult and kid making the recipe in a live action sequences. The five minute or less episodes are actually very repetitive. Basically the recipe is repeated at least twice and the quick recipes are recited several additional times.

The repetitive aspect is kind of annoying in my opinion, but I think preschool age kids will not mind. I still vote this as a worthwhile interstitial considering the other aspects of it. For one it seems to try to teach a little about cooking terms, such as dollop in the first episode. It also teaches about cooking safety, such as always telling you to wash your hands first and frequently saying to do the recipe with an adult.

Overall this is a good short. Beyond teaching about how to cook and cooking safety it also presents healthy snacks. The one episode “Dom’s Tomato Surprise” is a really good easy recipe with tomatoes, cottage cheese, and sprinkles. Yeah, the sprinkles part does not really make it seem all that healthy, but it might be a small sacrifice to get the kids to like the other ingredients. The online print out of the recipes and making their own recipe book aspect, also sounds like it could be fun for kids.
