Return to Halloweentown
is the fourth in the Halloweentown series of Disney Channel Original movies. Last year the movie was released in what they call the Ultimate Secret Edition. You can still catch the movie pretty much every October on Disney Channel including October 28, 2008, as this year’s Wiztober. Thus it may not seem that worth owning, but it actually is a pretty good DVD release if you like the movie.
The movie is about Marnie going to college in Halloweentown. Her brother, Dylan, ends up going there too to keep an eye on her at her mother’s request. Marnie ends up discovering secrets about the school and Halloweentown’s past that lead to her having to save Halloweentown (and her brother from life as a dog) from the Dominion before spells become permanent at midnight on Halloween.
Overall I really enjoy this particular movie in the Halloweentown series. I know a lot of people think sequels stink, but personally I really love sequels, especially when they are as well done as this one. I find it worth owning because it is fun to watch more than just when it is on during October. The bonus feature selection is kind of slim, though, so you really have to love it to want to own it. The one Bonus Feature is Behind the Scenes Spooktacular with the characters talking about each other and the making of the movie. At least the one bonus feature is pretty interesting to watch.
