Kids TV on DVD Review: Dora Saves the Snow Princess
Dora Saves the Snow Princess is the latest Dora the Explorer DVD release. The DVD features the special episode called “Dora Saves the Snow Princess,” which is a winter themed episode that premiered on this DVD. The episode has been shown a few times on Nickelodeon already as well. I also would not be surprised if it shows sometime in December, too.
“Dora Saves the Snow Princess” is an adventure in which Dora goes into a story book and helps save the Snowy Forest (I think that is what it is called). In the episode she must deal with the obstacles placed by the witch and save the Snow Princess from the tower. It is a pretty good Dora episode adventure wise, but it does seem to be among the less educational specials.
The DVD also has two other episodes, which are usually referred to as the bonus episodes on a release like this one. Neither of them are really winter themed, although you can maybe stretch “Dora’s Jack-in-the-Box” to being winter/holiday themed because the twins have a cold in the episode and it is about Dora getting them a toy as a gift. That is really stretching the definition of winter/holiday themed, though. The other episode I cannot think of tying into the theme at all. It is the “Bark, Bark to Play Park!” episode.
Overall this DVD is okay. I wish the bonus episodes were actually winter themed, but at least the main feature is pretty good. Also, it does have two bonus features, which are the Snow Princess Maze Adventure Game and the Pegasus Music Video.
