Kids TV on DVD Review: Jane and the Dragon A Dragon’s Tale
Jane and the Dragon: A Dragon’s Tale has five episodes of the show based on a popular series of books. The animation of the show is among the best in that it is very unique. I just love how the animation seems very life like in movements while still having the look of the book illustrations.
The episodes in this collection are overall good episodes, however one of them might make some parents want to steer clear of this release. The episode that may cause some issues for some parents is “The Tooth Fairy” because it pretty much outs it that the tooth fairy is not real, although in the end it kind of makes it seem like the tooth fairy might be real, however I doubt most kids will be tricked into this after seeing this episode. I am not saying that kids should not be told the lies about the tooth fairy and such existing, but just do not expect them to still believe after this episode. Thus why some parents might want to avoid this release because they do not want to be outed as lying about the tooth fairy or keep the magic of the tooth fairy alive for a while longer. The other episodes on this release are “Tests and Jester,” “Jester Justice,” “A Dragon’s Tail,” and “Shall We Dance.
This release has a few bonus features. One is a featuretter on “The Art of Jane and the Dragon.” There is also some Character Profiles, but these are just words on the screen that are not read aloud. There is also some Concept Art. Lastly there are some printable coloring pages you can get if you put the disc into a computer.
Overall not a bad release, as it is the only one for this show, I think. It really is a good situational learning show and has great animation. I think it is right for most. Some just might want to know that the tooth fairy truth is one of the episode’s topics.
