TV on DVD Review: Franklin’s Favorite Turtle Tales
Franklin’s Favorite Turtle Tales contains eight episodes of the show about Franklin the turtle and his friends that are different types of animals. The show is not exactly an educational one, but it is a good one that shows different social situations preschoolers and early grade school kids can relate to. In particular, the “Franklin Goes to School” episode is a wonderful one for helping kids learn that going to school can be scary, but it can also be a lot of fun.
The other episodes on this DVD are “Franklin’s Birthday Party” about him promising an awesome birthday party and having to learn to settle for less, “Franklin Rides a Bike” about Franklin taking longer to learn to ride than his friends, “Franklin’s Blanket” about learning to be without his blanket when it goes missing, “Franklin Camps Out” about Franklin going camping and learning to do things for himself, “Franklin and the Tooth Fairy” about Franklin learning about the tooth fairy and feeling left out because he does not have teeth, “Hurry Up Franklin” about Franklin teaching others that it is sometimes good to slow down, and “Franklin Plays the Game” about Franklin and his soccer team learning to use each other’s skills to play together as a better team.
The Special Features is pretty limited, but it does have a few. One is a read along book called Franklin’s Class Trip about the class going to the museum and Franklin thinking that the dinosaurs there are real. It also has a Sing Along and a section called Learn More about Franklin and His Pals that has bios of the main characters of the show.
