Vote for the Kid’s Choice Awards 2009

by

The Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards will air on Saturday, March 28. The voting for the winners has been opened up already. You can vote for your choices for the different categories one the Nick website here. Below is a list of the categories and this year’s nominees with some of my own opinions mixed in. Anyone care to share their predictions?

Movies

Favorite Movie:

Bedtime Stories
High School Musical 3: Senior Year
Iron Man
The Dark Knight

Favorite Animated Movie:
*I so do not get the appeal of Wall-E. Sure the end part is pretty entertaining, but the whole first two-thirds is pretty damn boring in my opinion. It is the only movie I have gone to that I regretted seeing and I almost fell asleep it was so boring. I am excited that Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa got nominated and I hope it wins.

Bolt
Kung Fu Panda

*Only returning nominee from last year is Chris Brown, who won last year

Favorite Female Singer:
*The only new nominee this year is Rhianna. Miley Cyrus won last year.

Alicia Keys
Beyonce

Television

Favorite TV Show:
*The only new nominee is Zoey 101. I wish they had at least changed The Suite Life of Zach & Cody nomination to a nomination for their new show Suite Life on Deck.

Hannah Montana
iCarly
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
Zoey 101

Favorite Television Actress:
*Only Miley Cyrus returns as a nominee again this year. She was also the winner last year.

America Ferrera Ugly Betty
Miley Cyrus Hannah Montana
Miranda Cosgrove iCarly

Sports

Favorite Male Athlete:

Other

Favorite Video Game:
*Only Guitar Hero World Tour returns as a nominee again this year. The nominations are all great this year. I especially have enjoyed playing Rock Band 2 and Mario Kart Wii.

Guitar Hero World Tour
Mario Kart Wii
Mario Super Sluggers
Rock Band 2

Favorite Book:
*Okay, can they really not come up with four separate nominations. Seriously they lumped the Harry Potter and Twilight books as series, so why not the other two, which are by the same person and appear to be kind of a series if not truly one. The Harry Potter series (last year’s winner) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are returning nominees from last year.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book
Harry Potter Series
Twilight Series

does anyone else think some of these entries are a bit “too much” for kids? some simpson’s episodes, lyrics (i kissed a girl), even the celebs themselves (chris brown, woman-assaulter)? this award show is supposed to be the one kid-friendly one remaining–let’s keep it that way!

  2. Kjersti Wasiak Says:

It has not been very kid friendly for a while. Honestly, I do not find Jack Black as having been a kid friendly host in the past, although he might have been while doing the show. The Simpsons have been in the nominations several times and I totally do not think it belongs. The whole KCA award show is rather corrupt seeming with the choices in many categories being either old/same nominees year after year including shows that no longer make new episodes and deserving movies/actors not getting nominated/being involved in favor of those worth promoting for some upcoming release or the channels own shows.
